My first event as one of the REV team leads was an eventful one. We were scheduled to attend and promote 3D at Martini Ranch, a club/bar in Old Town Scottsdale. Little did we know it would be far more exciting than just handing out our product to patrons coming and going…
That night a band by the name of Hawthorne Heights was performing. I personally had never heard of them, but Ryan (our Sales and Marketing Director) and Victoria (one of the REV team members) have followed them for quite some time. They are currently on a national tour, heading next to San Diego and then up the coast, so they are kind of a big deal.
As we were standing out front sampling 3D to all of the fans coming to watch the show, we noticed the tour buses parked behind the venue. We figured that since Hawthorne Heights wasn’t scheduled to go on stage for another hour that they were probably in the tour busses hanging out. Why not share the 3D love with them? I mean, Rockstars get thirsty too?
We stealthily headed around the corner and down the back alley where the busses were located and stopped in front of the tour bus doors. All of us were really nervous, whispering to one another in the faintest of voices. “Victoria, get up here so when I knock on the door and one of the members comes out to open it he sees your pretty face as opposed to one of our ugly mugs”, Ryan said. I thought to myself, good call Ry. Good call.
It was the moment of truth. Ryan knocked. Victoria took her place. All of a sudden….the door swung open and low and behold, it was the lead singer of the band. He greeted us enthusiastically, and it was smooth sailing from there. He asked us if we wanted to come onto the tour bus, and we did.
The bus was absolutely ridiculous! It was GIANT and loaded with all of the amenities of a fancy resort. I swear I must have seen about 10 flat screen plasma televisions. We passed out a TON of product to the band, telling them who we were and what 3D was all about. They absolutely LOVED the taste and thought it was def. a great product. As we were all hanging out talking and drinking 3D, one of the guys asked me if I wanted to get in on some Halo action. I thought, why the heck not? So I found myself hanging out, playing Halo, and drinking 3D on a massive tour bus with a famous band who absolutely loved our product. As it turns out, even rockstars can enjoy a healthy alternative beverage from time to time. What a night to share the 3D love…
